You cannot test a receiver like a diode because it's not. The LED is.
Best place for this locally would be SB. I'm not sure if GTB used the same style as BLY/WMS or not. I know the new Sterns use tranceivers which are totally different animals, so this is where your manual will come in...
You are correct on all counts. The emitter is ALWAYS on no matter what. The receiver sees the emitter which tells the game there is NO ball present. When the beam is broken, ball present. If the receiver is borked, it will think there there is a ball present all the time and the game should...
Ok, I've been reading all the posts here (and at the other place) and I have to say one thing. So far everyone (besides Drano) has told you to focus on the DMD controller, but you mention in your first post the issue goes away when you pull a battery which is located on the MPU. Now I will say...
Just remember that opto's work the OPPOSITE was regular switches do. If the game thinks it's ALWAYS seeing a ball, and the emitter is working all the time, then it's an alignment issue or the receiver is borked. Usually there isn't much to aligning these things because the distance between...
Re: Supercharger problem almost solved
LOL. Nice... TBH, I've only ever had the pleasure of shopping out a Getaway once and it was many years ago. I guess if I actually looked at the manual when posting I would have noticed the flipper coil setup and had you check things like voltages at the...
Tough to say in this market... Where it's not a game that gets much love maybe around 1800-2200? Even then, I'd have a hard time paying that for an AP, and I'm a HUGE fan of the franchise.

Yep, the word "shopped" gets thrown around as much as the term "huo" these days and generally means squat because one persons definition of a shop job is nothing like someone else's definition of a shop job.
To me, a shop job is nothing but a tune up for a game. A complete tune up. What this...
I was browsing through RGP and came across an excellent thread about this, and thought I would share.
The answer is the ones that are based on Halotron1, an electrically non-conductive "clean" extinguishing liquid agent that quickly turns into gas when applied. Halotron 1 is an EPA- and...
Yeah, the thing that always pisses me off with the kits is it's always missing something, and it's usually the one or two rings that nobody ever has and grinds the shop job to a halt. Soooo frustrating.

The longer you're in this hobby, the more you're realize that EVERY manual ring list is slightly incorrect. Just the way it goes unfortunately... and is the reason I never purchase ring "kits" from anyone as they are always wrong. :)

I like to think the machines appreciate all that I do for them, and reward me with tourney wins. :) (or in this case a tie)
Had a great time as always, and even though we had dim sum with "that guy" I don't feel any different than I did before.

The tie-back diode is what we see on every coil, or on the driver PCB along with the coil transistor. It is used to block the reverse voltage that occurs when a coil is fired and keeps the junction in the transistor from being destroyed. (Its more technical than that, I wanted to keep it...
