There relatively the same. Although I've only worked on 2 em games. I haven't came across any funky relays or anything with them. The flipper circuit is fairly straight forward
I'd start with checking power at fuses, buttons and coils. Look for switches not making contact.
For me troubleshooting is mostly trial and error. I'd try to bring any parts that you might need. But it's probably going to be multiple trips if you have to order parts. Hopefully it's an easy fix.
I'd be willing to bet most of that cost is labour.
Instead of one contractor, have you thought about subbing out the work your self. Work with the individual trades that you need to do the tough stuff. Try and find guys outta area that work for less then the big city guys.
Yesterday I went to the playdium arcade for a couple hours to play pinball.
Star Trek was better then expected, I'm not a fan of the theme but this was a lot of fun. I really like the colour change lights, it makes it easy to see your shots and know where you are in each mode. I was having...
This looks very cool, although I have about zero electrical engineering skills. I'd end up making a light with a switch....and that's about it.
I have a better ability to troubleshoot with schematics then create a new design
I saw this on Engadget, then googled it. Turns out they have a kickstarter going right now.
This looks to be a very easy way to create wire forms for games.

I made a point of playing this today. I was in brantford for work so I stopped at the boston pizza. I don't know if it was the pro version, idk the difference. The game played well; I didn't. (Although I've only played once in the last month)
I'm the polar opposite of a tournament player...
I've used this vinyl floor. Looks good for the price. It's fairly durable. Simple to install, just need an exacto knife and a square. It's floating so you can put it down with very little prep work.

The same product comes in "tile" also.
Seems a great way to get around outdated pinball "gambling" laws. If you have an arcade you would be limited to how many machines you can have at once on the floor.
But if it's a "showroom" then that's totally different.
Could this work in Toronto?
I'd like to see how others feel about them. There's one thread on pinside where a guy removed them from nascar because the left scoop would kick the ball at the flipper and it would bounce back into the same scoop. But it didn't do that with normal (red) bands.
If these eliminate the rudder...
I believe sony rushed to produce this machine. I don't believe it to be an improvement over the ps3.
At launch no support for CD's, MP3’s, DLNA, or 3D bluray. I'm sure these will come. But not available at launch.... Wtf.
The sony store will no longer download to your system. Everything...
