The first kijiji ad and the second one you posted are from different kijiji accounts.
The second one is from a guy in oshawa. You can click on his view other ads

This is so dumb.
Most kijiji listings are already on the high side. The odd 'deal' that pops up is usually closer to what a private sale price might be. Kijiji is akin to eBay when looking at pricing as far as I'm concerned.

I'm assuming he's referring to people offering over the "asking" price to jump the line. Sure, this is a bit of a dick move but no worse than the ambulance chaser that shows up at the door and then starts to whittle down the seller for every tiny imperfection. And even if the prospective buyers are offering over asking, the blame for letting that happen still falls on the seller. This guy wants to penalize buyers?

Some of us get upset at this practice but, I have to think that if I was a non-pinhead selling a machine I'd go for the fastest and/or highest offer. For people who do know pinball, I think the majority of us wouldn't allow this to happen anyway.

Also, someone who has the capacity to list a game on kijiji also has the capacity to google that game and determine what it normally sells for. If they are selling it low there's usually a conscious reason. If this guy contacted me I'd tell him where to go. I think someone should post some false underpriced kijiji listings and get this guy's info.

And in a final act of nose-cutting and face-spiting, his answer to not being able to find a reasonable deal on a pin due to these unscrupulous over bidders and sellers is to try and eliminate any possible deal from kijiji? Hmmm

If he thinks this only happens on pins he delusional. When I sold my comic book collection to fund my first pinball machine I put it up for $350. I had offers of nearly $600 by the end from this one guy. I sold them to the Dad of a girl that was just getting into comics for my original $350 and have no regrets about it. The $600 guy was pissed and called me everything under the sun for not selling them to him. That guy was a piece of work. I am happy that I make good enough money that I don't have to bother with people that resemble pieces of shit.

Reading through this second guy's postings you will see that he is not of the same mind set, his suggestion to up EM and SS pricing seems to be sarcastic. In his TFTC 'public service announcement' he is suggesting to boycott the seller/sale as he has increased his price from $2K to $3500, which is still quite low depending on condition (IMO). It may very well be the other guy that has contacted the seller first... (although, I'm sure that the price would have been tripled if he has listened. hehe...)

This second guy, with the additional ads is looking for a few pins, one being a TAF (working or not). I reached out to ask his price range, his response; "$5K is the range..." realistic not really but what would he tell a complete stranger, $8+? (of course not)

Everyone wants to buy low and sell high, no surprise there.

With a renewed interest in pinball (generally speaking) I agree with the others regarding the want ads and flipping, that is definitely driving the prices up. Purchase for pleasure or for quick sale to turn a profit, straight flip vs someone who goes through a pin, replaces and renews, possibly even restores etc... What is 'acceptable'? I think that the answer depends on whether one is buying or selling, that would be the more interesting discussion.

I never realized you were all such badasses.
I am going to have to keep an eye out for the RCMP undercover units and speak 'appropriately' on my tapped phone.

A bunch of GD criminals.

There's some crazy stuff going on on Kijiji right now. Not sure if anyone saw that listing from last night that was pulled.

$3500 "acdc SOLD SOLD! pinball it is $10000 now! NO MAACA CON"S! SOLD"

It was going on and on about some nice guy contacted me and told me that it was worth at least 10000 and on and on. Looks like we are all screwed. No more deals for us.

I think some people are purposely listing at a low price ,just to get the kijiji auction going. The demand is exceeding the supply .

Just to play devils advocate for a minute.

Do you think people on real estate forums complain about houses selling for more than asking price?
Is it wrong to offer above asking price on a house you really want?

It's a capitalist market out there and I've see more then one situation that has left me scratching my head.
