Well we are moving into our 3rd year and we are implementing some changes and improvements.
Points: We will be implementing a new point system. It will be a percentage based system similar to what the TCPL use. This way everyone will get credit for their performance even if they are at the bottom.
Registration fee: There will be a $20 one time registration fee to join the league. This will build up the LOPL fund so that we are not running at such a tight budget. All monies will go back out to the players in the form of trophies, prizes, food etc and any costs to run the league like web hosting.
Host fee: The host fee will now be $10 per league night. This will not only provide incentive to potential new hosts it will better cover the costs of provisions and wear and tear on the machines. With the increased hosting fee we think it is reasonable to expect the host to kick back a minimum of $50 worth of provisions. The league will pull $40 out of the hosting pool to put towards the LOPL fund. So if we have 35 players then the host will get $310 and LOPL will get $40. After kicking back $50+ the host still clears $250+ for hosting and wear and tear on the machines.
Cheating: This has never been an issue in LOPL but anyone caught cheating will be banned from any IFPA events and leagues in Canada for a period of one year. Cheating is not taken lightly.
More pinball: We will be running about 10 normal league nights but we are going to try to add in a few funzie nights (with prizes) where we will do some different fun things like pingolf etc. And/or we will likely be running a few stand alone tournaments (like how the playoffs ran).
Guest passes: Any LOPL member is allowed to bring one guest per league night. They will only have to pay the $10 host fee. They will play the league as normal but their scores will not count. This way they can get a feel for the league and decide if they want to register. Or they can just register right away (pay the $20 registration fee and the $10 host fee. Scores count. They are a member this way, not a guest.). If there are any league nights that have a max number of available spots, members will get priority and guests will only be allowed if there are any spots left.
Playoffs and scoring: You will need to have played in 4 league nights to be eligible for the playoffs. Top 24 eligible scores will qualify for the playoffs. Your best 8 league scores will count towards your total score. (up from 4 last year).
