OK, this deserves a bit more explaining...
My buddy rented a truck and made the trip to Detroit for his first pinball purchase off eBay.
The seller had sent him pics and they agreed to do a cash sale.
When he arrived at the address he was a bit spooked by his surroundings.
Abandoned houses, sketchy area, the whole nine.
He decides to find the nearest police station (like any good Canadian boy would do) and ask for advice.
When he walks in, the cops are shocked to see him. He sticks out like a sore thumb in this area.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
He says he is here to pick up something he bought off eBay.
"A pinball machine?" the cops ask with a chuckle.
They inform him that a week ago, another fresh faced pinball enthusiast showed up at their station after just being robbed during a pinball deal in the neighborhood. They added that the police do not even answer calls in that area, it is too dangerous.
The cops tell him to turn around and go back home.
Having rented a truck and made the trip, my friend tries to reason with the seller.
He believed the pics to be genuine and the game to exist, and he really wanted it.
He phoned the seller and asked if they could do the deal in a public space because he was nervous about the neighborhood.
"FUCK YOU"
