Sounds like a cool project-looking forward to seeing how it turns out. It's too bad that you can't update over USB though-almost makes it worth buying a ROM burner for it.
Congrats-how did the new playoff format work? I couldn't make it on Sunday, but it seemed OK at the brawl for all earlier this year, so hopefully it worked as an actual league playoff.
Re: I bought a house!!
Congrats Chris-glad you found a place that works. Being that close to the school should be awesome for the kids, and you can't get much better than that for a basement entrance. No more decapitating pins to move them (except for out of your current place)!
Congrats-glad you managed to get it down unharmed and beheaded. At least the newer games have fewer connectors?
Looking forward to giving this one a try. The pro at starburst seemed OK-still need to play more to form a real opinion on it.
Re: Xbox One/PS4-anyone buying into another console generati
So now that these are out there, did anyone else grab one? I got my Xbox One last week, and so far it's pretty great. Haven't dug into any of the launch games too much yet (other than Killer Instinct, which is surprisingly good)...
Thanks for the tip on the eneloops-I had 4 already, but more are always useful. Just using the stock Sanyo charger on them, but they keep my Xbox 360 (and now Xbox One) controllers up and running.
You could probably save a few bucks on the project if you did all the interior work yourself, but if you're looking at digging a real foundation etc then that's where you need to get pros in. Maybe split the difference and have the contractor come in and do the exterior/framing, and do all the...
Huh? Hadn't you already talked to the contractor before getting all the drawings done? What changed? Hell, for that much, you could probably buy your neighbor's house up there and just fill it with pins...
Using the backbox as a cabinet is a great idea-were you thinking of framing the glass, or trying to do it invisibly? Unless you cut the glass, I don't think you'd have space for a wood frame around it. Could also be pretty prone to flaking off the back, couldn't it?
Re: [Group Buy]: DMD Glare Guard "Knock Off"
Hmm, tempting. I've only seen these in action the once at Chris' place, and I can't remember how they looked in person, and whether it'd be impossible for my kids to see the display with one of these on.
I did my whole basement with carpet/underpad straight on the concrete (so no extra subfloor) and it's great. Much better to stand on than bare concrete, games don't shift under normal play, and the floor isn't cold. Only problem is that it's a little harder to move games around than on...
Yeah, not sure if I'll keep them on whitewater or not. Mike had some samples, and I had the glass off whitewater anyway, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Big question for me is how it handles drop catches out of the lost mine scoop, and I didn't notice a huge difference, but I only played one...
Was there no custom speech in the game already? Anyway, game updates are always a good thing, so nice to see them trying.
Wonder where they shot that though-doesn't seem like it'd be at Stern since there's a bunch of B/W games in the background :)
Thanks for sharing-I had no idea how those were held on. The rails on my TZ are a little beat up, so I might replace them at some point, but it's hardly a high priority.
Of course, now TOTAN looks much shinier than the TOM next to it-different finish, or just newer brass plating?
