    Tim's Rescue 911 thread

Thanks for the info, Doug. There's some really great stuff there. (didn't know the switch could be pulled out ;)) I tested the power coming in from the new power wire. It shows 120v, so that's good. I tested the continuity on all my fuses in the cabinet, (haven't done the ones in the head yet)...

Very good advice. I think I'll take it. I've decided to not do any more power stuff tonight, and have kicked into cleaning mode instead. :) The playfield actually looks pretty great once the grime is wiped away!

Hmmm, I tried to power it up a few minutes ago, but got nothing. When I found all that crap in the cabinet, one of the things I found was a fuse holder. I see in the lower right hand side of the front cabinet is a power-supply sorta thing. (I'm pretty sure its not a P.S., though) I see a fuse...

Thanks for the info, that was sort of what I was thinking. I just wanted to confirm. I'm having way too much fun working on my pin. That's half the fun for me!

Another question regarding the AC power. Let's say the green wire is the ground. Being that AC has no positive nor negative, is it possible to do damage by hooking the 2 power wires up the wrong way? If so, how do I go about testing which is which? I really don't want to fry my pin before I...

I bought a new power cord to swap out the Italian one it came with. I won't get a chance to do it until tonight, but can I assume that the wire colours will be the same on the new plug, and old? Is green always ground? Or should I test the new cords continuity just to make sure everything's correct?

Cool. I won't know until later tonight or tomorrow how it works when powered up. I got it jumped over to 120v last night, so all I need to do to fire it up is change the cord over.

I've just noticed the two lower flippers extend to different heights, but when they are resting, they are both level. Is that something that can be adjusted, or is it a symptom of something else? Like two different flipper mechanisms or something?

A couple of safety pins later... Success! Now I just have to do that 5 more times.

The extra jumpers that came with my machine are not for 120v, like I hoped they were. Basically, I need to make one of these: Into one of these: I've tried getting the pins to pop out, but it's proving rather difficult. Are there likely to be connectors like this at the Playdium Store, or do...

Thanks Brock. I'll be sure to grab all of that stuff. Mike, thanks but I have a copy of that already. :) Definitely looking forward to getting an actual manual for it. Depending on how big the book is, I may pay a visit to one of the print shops I used to work in and make a PDF version of it...

    Tim's Rescue 911 thread

I'm going to try and make it to the Playdium store tomorrow before work to grab my rings and some Novus II. Other than fuses, is there anything else I should buy while I'm there? It looks like there is a Mylar covering on most of the game. Is it Novus II I'll use to clean both the wood and Mylar...

I think it's English and German. It seems to have the same stuff written in both languages. Check out all the stuff that was inside the cabinet: What are those mechanisms there?

I've cracked open my R911 machine to get my first really good look inside a pinball machine. I'll be posting lots of pics and stuff on my site as I go. I'm going to use this thread to ask any questions that I have as I go along. http://www.multiball.org/ So many people here have already been a...

    pinball come back home

I feel your pain. Literally. I have two pinched nerves at the base of my spine. They were acting up while unloading the truck, but now it's really bad after wrestling my machine into the basement yesterday. I had to use my desk chair just to help me get out bed this morning!

    WTB: Gottlieb legs

Thanks for the info, guys. After getting the legs on the machine, it feels like a great height. (at the front of the machine, anyway) Chris B. gave me a new leveler to replace the one that was missing from one of my legs... I think I may just clean these guys up, and give'em a fresh coat of...

I'm told older Gottlieb games have taller cabinets than other games from the same era. Now that you mention it, it would have made more sense going in coin-door first. Here it is touching the roof of the truck:

Brock mentioned something about being 2 or 3 inches longer. Let me do a little research, see what I can find out. Thanks.
