If taxes and no Trudeau were all that mattered to me Texas would be great. I actually do like the state a lot as a place to live. My best friend lived in Texas for years so I have been many times.
That said - Family and friends all live in Ontario and I am very close to all of them. This is more important than tax free pinball.

I already have family, friends and business partners there. Quality of life is so much better, the rest will fallow once they visit.. It's what happen to me.

Don't know about that. Maybe it's better for you but I can't transfer my licenses and moving to another country is not simple by any stretch of the imagination. Rather be close to my kids anyway.

Ya, I see your point.. Maybe when you retire or maybe start a business. Just imagine selling your life long stock investments in Texas.
I believe this move will be way better for my kids too, property prices are reasonable and fantastic job opportunities. If I stay in Canada, my kids will be living with me forever. haha. Were gonna keep everything we sold property wise in Canadian dollars hoping for par again one day, Got what we sold in a high savings mutual right now with a drip dividend... will mortgage what we buy in Texas. What's the safest place for cash with the highest return right now? If you don't mind me asking, just think the stock market is over valued and don't want to buy more just yet.

Yes, I will move my businesses to the states ASAP... Canada is uninvestable at this point. I don't care who wins the election there, Texas is booming, no matter what happens. Their is great leadership in that state.

Also, Texas relies on high sales and use taxes to offset the lack of personal income tax. Plus, comparing our economy to the US is ridiculous. I can’t tell if you’re being purposely obstinate, or you actually believe what you’re saying. I’m so sick of these BS talking points too. My partners and family are already doing fantastic there, so what does it matter? 6.25% sales tax sounds good to me. If your happy here, cool.

Good news! I'll be selling 31 absolutely mint pins to John in Burlington, they'll be staying in Canada!. Just met him yesterday, he inquired and made some really good points/advice.. super nice guy. He looked at em and said he'll take what I would let go. lol . One good point is that the pins would be taxed again coming back to Canada, so it makes sense. It will be fun hunting for a new collection, and what a fun day yesterday..thanks again for the investment advice John! Cheers!!

I lived just outside Houston for under a year. Best city I have ever visited/ lived in. IMO 1000% better than Toronto in every way, (unless you like winter).
The heat can be brutal during 2-3 summer months, but it's kind of like January-March here; everyone kind of just hibernates.
The people are so incredibly nice, respectful and friendly, the city is so clean and cost of living was dirt cheap.
I remember when I came back to Toronto; the exact same food products at the grocery store were 3x the price, everyone seemed so utterly miserable and the city looked like a garbage dump in comparison. Toronto has only gone downhill since then.
I definitely think you are making the right move.

I lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area (Arlington to be exact) for a while. Typical shit pit of an American city. Dirty. Violent. Fucking cockroaches EVERYWHERE including in homes because you can't keep them out despite the regular poison spraying. Shootings and murders every week. One incident I recall was the teen who shot and killed his buddy (the designated driver for a party) because he wouldn't GIVE him his car radio after driving him home. People don't need to prove they have brains before they can own and carry a lethal weapon in their pocket. So smart. Wonderful place to live.
My favorite personal experience was going to local hobby store. Turns out the hobby store was also a gun shop which I didn't know at the time. A couple of meth head bozos walked in with their getto blaster. Went to the used 12-gauge shotgun barrel (yes they were jammed in a barrel like shovels and rakes lol). Turned on their heavy metal tunes at max volume and started pumping the shotguns while banging their heads to the music. This is real. I was there. Like WTFF. It was like a scene from a low-budget slasher movie where you think "this is such bullshit - no way this would happen for real".

Houston is 3.5 hours away from Dallas and Fort Worth.
That's like lumping in Sudbury as part of Toronto.
I would tend to believe a business person who is actually taking risks doing business here. It takes a lot of guts to pack up and move to US. It is not easy and the government doesn't make it easy.
Why do people get so angry and personal when someone wants to better their life in another country? Good luck to them.
What we don't need is privileged people with their blinders on living in Ottawa and the rest of those supporters because they benefit from this socialist dictator as our PM.
What kind of country penalizes your success like they do here. It's criminal the amount of taxes on tax. Maybe you are just hanging out in the bad areas of Texas. Go to Toronto and see a real city in decline.
