The slope and curve of the ramp will make the left portion of the decal hardest to stick flat without wrinkles.
There must be some 3D to 2D conversion that would work when designing the decal. You'd almost expect that a slice in the pattern may be required to get it to align.

I get the same behaviour in my Joker Poker SS using a similar approach. (Pinrepair published an idea to jumper the start button to either credit switch at the diode board in the lower cabinet). For me too, the credits never get very far from max. No more opening the door.

My ceiling is enclosed with popcorn sprayed drywall and I used a stud finder... but a few hooks placed into the ceiling joists made getting the playfield out of the way a piece of cake. I did this before installing mirror blades for the buyer of my STTNG.
To each his own but I would tend to agree. For TSPP the cartoon like graphics were dead on and worked extremely well.
I'm thinking that colourized screen grabs from the original b&w series would make great raw material.
