Yep, when you've been collecting games for a long time you learn this is one of the first things you do with any pin you add to your collection. Good catch, should anything bad happen down the road you just saved yourself a lot of un-necessary work.

I think Clay hit it right on the money. The LE features / quality is what you used to get from Stern pre Ironman, but now you're paying almost double what you used to which is what turns me off.

I think Duane is on the right track, coupled with an unproven technology whereas the other guys are basing their games on a proven format that works so buying into those doesn't seem as risky? Dunno...

Yeah, you've fried part or all of the lamp matrix by shorting it to the coil voltage. This is going to require PCB repair for sure. Call Stern first and see what they recommend, you may get lucky.

Never hurts to ask... the worst they can say is no. (and Stern has been known to help other owners in the past with stuff like this, a particular shaker motor horror story comes to mind) Stern may also know exactly what components may have been damaged and at the very least give you an idea of...
I'm probably going to have to set aside a full day to do nothing but house calls sometime soon, so I'm sure we can work something out. (I'm willing to bet your HV section on the DMD controller packed it in, which is a simple repair)

Excellent thread, and a number of variables all come down to personal preference. As Drano mentioned above, pop bumper switch gap is a crutial variable for me, along with the sling switch gaps. I personally prefer all pops and slings to be as sensitive as possible without having them...
