    MMR unboxings so far

Looks nice-glad to see people finally getting their games. Really curious to see how they hold up with the new boards etc.

Stern Pinball Announces Immediate Availability of Whoa Nellie! Big Juicy Melons™

I think the pinball news article said it included both the crate and standard legs, which explains some of the cost, but still, I figured this would come in at $4k tops...

Stern Pinball Announces Immediate Availability of Whoa Nellie! Big Juicy Melons™

That pricing is crazy. I really wonder what the BOM on something like this is compared to a regular stern pro. There are definitely some more unique parts (score reels etc), but you'd think that'd be offset by the fact that there aren't near as many things on the PF. Still, I think the...

ColorDMD Unveils New HD Color Upscaling Across All Platforms!

I got a chance to try this out last night on Nick's AFM, and the high res upscaling doesn't look great. Everything looks a little like melted wax... The "scan" option seemed a little better though, and some of the other modes (8bit, tile) were interesting too. If nothing else, it's great to...

PinSound review: a sound upgrade that transforms your pin

I just figured that if they had original recordings around then you could remaster from those, but the original session tapes are probably long gone at this point.

PinSound review: a sound upgrade that transforms your pin

Thanks-music sounds MUCH better there, but I noticed that the speech still sounds pretty fuzzy. Was that intentional, or do those higher res elements just not exist anymore?

PinSound review: a sound upgrade that transforms your pin

That seems like a pretty substantial upgrade, right up there with colorDMD in terms of changing the games. So now you could be in for close to $1000 worth of upgrades on a game with new display and new sound? I suppose if something is really a keeper, then why not. Is there video somewhere...

    The Pinball church:)

That's a really nice room-you must get some interesting acoustics on the games with the ceilings that high.

Group Buy-Anyone else want a set of these TSPP side decals?

I did it without taking the playfield all the way out, but it wasn't easy. In retrospect, it would have been better to just disconnect the whole thing and take it apart.

The current season ends at the next playoffs on March 8. Next season starts up on the 23rd after PAPA.

SOLD No Good Gofers - HUO

Hmm, might have to look at that golf ball mod for mine. That gofer topper is pretty cool though-the glowing eyes are tied into something on the game (can't remember what), so it has this evil gopher flashing at you from above :)

    remote control power...Luch's idea

Other than having all your games on at once when you don't need to, the only real reason I can see this being trouble is when you've got a bunch of people over for a tournament or something and someone inadvertently hits the wrong switch. Everything turns off, and riot ensues. As long as the...

JJP - RAD CAL aka Cabinet Decals

It's an interesting way to compromise between the direct print cabinets and decals. I think it's a little excessive for most home environments, since it's a $400 upgrade, but I'm glad that it exists. Now, if they decided to make these standard on the LE/SE games, I wouldn't complain about it...

Yes, we can definitely talk about that.

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

If you're just using sharpie to fill in the colour, are you worried that it'll smear easily? Not sure how well the marker would stay on top of the old paint. Are you finding that the colour fades at all as the wood absorbs the ink? It's definitely an interesting way to do touch ups if it...

The Pinball Diaries (what did you do today?)

Right. The 6 year old probably wouldn't take things apart, but might take to hiding things in machines. The 3 year old would figure out how to open the doors pretty easily, and would then start: a-ripping wires off of things, or b-getting shocked by touching the wrong thing. Right now I have...

The Pinball Diaries (what did you do today?)

Had everyone over for TOPL last night, and as usual, that's when things chose to go wrong. Nothing catastrophic-mostly just balls getting stuck on things, and a couple of light bulbs getting knocked out, but still had to go for keys more than once. It's really time to get some keyed alike...

Stern Making of WWE Wrestlemania Pinball

Seems like it could be something different at least, but I'm still worried that the ring is going to slow things down a lot, and get old really fast. A little like Champion Pub maybe? In any case, looking forward to trying one out for myself to see. Any idea when Starburst is getting a game...

JPOP - MG, RAZA and AIW pics

Nevermind-in that picture, you can definitely tell that it's a deeper design to allow for more verticality in the game. Was there ever any talk about open sourcing the code to these games? With such a small team, I'd imagine that the games could me mechanically complete, but the software is...
