I've found Clay's TOPCast to be some excellent listening. The Pat Lawlor and Tim Arnold episodes were two that still stand out in my mind. D

Yeah, that replacement coil is half as strong as the original and a much smaller gauge wire. D

What about the possibility of a missing spring washer between the coil stop and the coil? Just a thought... D

As long as you don't cheap out with batteries, the good ones should last you at least a couple years. The current draw required to keep the ram backed up is minimal. If you really wanted to protect your games from leaky batteries you could always use Lithium AA instead of the standard Ni-Cad. D

I bought the Cointaker TZ door kit years ago, love that mod. D

My guess is a lot of the parts they needed to use to pull this off are just not available in T/H. The other reason for going SMT on as much as possible is vibration. Where the majority of the PCB's are mounted to the underside of the PF, vibration is going to be THE biggest enemy this game...

The wattage will be minimal with that pot, like 1/4 to max 1/2 Watt. And based on those numbers it could be a 36K or a 22 Ohm, not sure where you're getting the 200 Ohm from? D

Competition is always a good thing. If WCP didn't want to compete (which clearly he didn't) there is nothing wrong with that. He made a good chunk of change being the first kid on the block, which is always the case. D

Re: Setting up NUCORE now that Ubuntu 8.04LTS isn't supporte If it's just Ubuntu that is the stumbling block that is hardly making anything to do with NuCore obsolete... I might fire Chuck an email to ask him about this issue just to see what he says. D

Good luck with that. BH is not known to wear very well. I've had 4 and none of them were anywhere close to perfect, and it took me a LONG time and a PF swap to get my last one up to an ok condition. D

+1. WPC/95 style cabs would be a nice option. D
