    Rollergames connector problem

According to the WMS Roller Games manual, that disconnected yellow wire goes to 2P6-3. Would also be OK on 2P6-4 since these two pins are tied together. -Sylvain.

    System 80B score display

Interesting issue. Is the decimal point also lit (just above the comma between each digit) ? Did you check for any shorts between display 2 pins? ...I wonder if there might be a short in the display glass itself - given U2 was already replaced... Good luck! -Sylvain.

    Eight Ball Pinball Problem

Is the machine booting and going into attract mode? Displays on? Can you start a game, and the ball ejects from the outhole and scores points going over playfield switches? Playfield lights no longer working: General Illumination, or Controller lamps? Did you check fuses on the rectifier board...

    Gottlieb system 80b battery replace

Great, you thought about the need of a blocking 1N400x diode so that the MPU would not try to recharge the new CR2032 battery. Well done! Cheers, -Sylvain.

Broken single fuse holder - how to replace?

Ed at Great Plains Electronics in the US sells new fuse holders that are way better quality, and still affordable. See Part Number 354001GY at: https://www.greatplainselectronics.com/products.asp?cat=32 You might be able to find something similar local to you at an electronics store. I would...

    Captain Fantastic problems

1- Yep, as stated by Guard above, the Bally drop targets assemblies usually have a metal adjustable stopper plate at the bottom (under the playfield) to adjust the depth of the drop targets 'fall'. You should be able to adjust that stopper plate to have the top of the drop targets...

    feature lamp always on

In my experience, this issue is caused by a bad lamp darlington driver transistor on the Driver board (if there is only one lamp doing this). Even if it tested 'good'. If multiple lamps stay partly dim, then it could be a poor ground issue between MPU-Driver. Good luck! -Sylvain.

    williams fire

I feel the trade offer is not great, even with shipping. Looking at the 2018 Mr.Pinball Price Guide values - yes, I know this is only a guide: for fully working machines, new rubber rings and no visible wear on PF & BG: - Fire: $1750 USD - JL, red cab: $1025 USD - HH: $2675 USD You can also...

Future Spa Wont Start a Game

Bally and Stern games of that generation (with the original MPU) do not have a free game setting as such. One usual way to achieve it is by programming the 1st free game credit at a very low score, so that you will always win at least one free game per game, so that the credits number never gets...

Need help with 1977 gottlieb bronco please

Some contacts in EM pinballs will still measure continuity even when opened, due to the connected circuit to the switch that acts as a parallel circuit. Or if there is a solder splash on the stack! There is/are certainly at least one misadjusted or dirty contact somewhere that causes the...

Need help with 1977 gottlieb bronco please

I assume that there are enough credits on the Credit Unit in the head, or that its contacts are 'adjusted' to make the machine free-play (e.g. contacts still closed even at 0 credit position). 1- Ensure the Coin unit in the cabinet ratchets nicely and easily mechanically from default reset...

Here is a stumper for you!

I would check the 0.100 Molex pins inside the connector housing for J1 on the MPU, especially the pins for controlled lamps data, address and strobe. One pin might be broken or not making firm contact with the J1 header pins. Good luck! -Sylvain.

    Evel knievel issue

Number of Bally MPU LED Flashes, what they mean, and what is wrong if not completing individual flashes are well described on the internet now (partly covered in the manual). Two examples here: http://techniek.flipperwinkel.nl/ballyss/rep/index2.htm#flash https://www.flippers.com/bally-tips.html...

    jungle lord: flipper issue

Using the schematics (available on ipdb.org): 1- check the left flipper button switch to ensure the 3 contact blades make good contact when the left flipper button is activated 2- ensure the connector 7P1/7J1 in the cabinet, that connects to the left and right flipper button switches, is nice...

Target Alpha Stuck on Last Ball

If it plays 4 players all the time, even with a 1-player game started, then the Coin Unit in the cabinet is not resetting at its 1st position at game start... - Sylvain.

Number 20 bonus light out on playfield

One bulb not working on Gottlieb System80 pinball machines can be anything from this list: - bad bulb socket - wire or ground braid to that particular bulb socket broken-off somewhere - bad pin in connector header on the driver board for that lamp - bad drive transistor for that bulb on the...

Target Alpha Stuck on Last Ball

Hmmm, is the Player Unit in the head resetting to its zero position at game start? How about the Coin Unit in the cabinet? Basically, I would look for anything gummed-up on those steppers/ratchets and fix before chasing an electrical issue. Difficult to troubleshoot remotely without seeing what...

Target Alpha Stuck on Last Ball

Does the BX / Last Ball relay properly trip upon getting to the last ball? Make sure the rivets are clean on the Player unit for this (and make sure the small flex wire is present where it should be between the sprung pins on the wiper disk). Then, also check that the contact stacks are tight on...
